Endorsement Methodology
Guiding Principle:
The guiding principle behind our endorsement process is to put Jewish community issues above partisan affiliation.
The BCJAC endorsement committee intentionally included a balance of Democrats and Republicans with representatives from across the community.
Methodology:
We consider each candidate’s experience, track record, integrity, shared values, proven commitment to the Jewish community, political alignments, ability to build bridges, and his or her electability. While we encourage Jewish civic participation, we do not consider a candidate’s religious or ethnic identity, gender, or any other demographic data ahead of the above criteria.
We view our endorsements as an informational service for the local Jewish community. We are doing the research, meeting with candidates, monitoring the landscape, and gathering information (some of which is not available publicly) and sharing our assessment with the community. We realize there are many factors that individuals consider when determining how to vote. Our endorsements focus on issues that are important for the Jewish community.
